You can count on friends to be there for you through thick, thin and 20-plus years of sublimated resentment.

Next Sunday (February 21), five of Friends' original six cast members will gather as part of NBC's tribute to James Burrows to pore over the veteran sitcom director's contributions to TV. But first, Lisa Kudrow will shade her former co-stars for taking cakewalks onto the cast list while she had to fight tooth-and-nail for her role as Phoebe Buffay.

In the clip above, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and David Schwimmer recall "meeting" with Burrows to cement their parts, while Kudrow was asked back for multiple auditions.

"I had to come in and audition for Jimmy — did you?" she directs at Schwimmer.

"I remember meeting with Jimmy before--" he says.

"That's not auditioning," she interjects as the crowd laughs, and she continues to interrogate her remaining co-workers. "But I did."

Then, when the accusations subside, the cast will dive into the secrets to their chemistry. In a second preview, Matt LeBlanc — who played Joey — says Burrows urged the actors to get to know each other behind-the-scenes for more a more seamless on-screen dynamic.

"He really encouraged each other to get along, and get to know one another, and be kind to one another," he says in the clip.

Aniston adds that the cast's poker games in Burrows' dressing room forged a real connection that even inspired a Friends story arc. Cards, Kudrow notes, proved to be a crucial bonding agent.

"We really wanted to connect," she says. "I think it was sort of unspoken, but we instinctively felt like we need to be friends."
