Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - There were reports of hail and strong winds in parts of northeast Iowa and southeast Minnesota early Thursday as some storm cells popped up around 3 a.m. and began moving through the region.

Hail nearly an inch in diameter was reported in Preston and Wabasha. There were also reports of short periods of heavy rain. The Rochester airport received 8/10ths of an inch, on top of the 8/10ths that fell Wednesday.

Strong winds blew over a semi-truck on I-35 near the Freeborn/Steele County line around 2:45 a.m. Thursday. The 55-year-old man from Greenfield, Iowa, who was driving the truck was taken to St. Mary’s for treatment of minor injuries.

Very warm and humid conditions are expected Thursday and then more rain in the form of scattered showers and storms is in the forecast through Memorial Day.
