Rochester Police arrested a 35-year-old man on felony assault charges early Sunday morning after he allegedly attacked another man with a hammer.

The incident occurred shortly before 6 AM at a home in the 400 block of 9th avenue northwest. A spokesman says officers were also called to the residence on Christmas day after the same man allegedly assaulted his pregnant girlfriend. The alleged victim on Sunday was the woman’s brother, who discovered Nicholas Link hiding behind a couch when he entered the home.

The brother, who declined medical treatment, told police he was able to wrestle the hammer away from Link and chased him out of the house.
