Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A man from St. Louis, Missouri has been charged with stealing money from his father, who lives in an Olmsted County assisted living facility and has been classified as a vulnerable adult.

The man - 35 year old David Graves - was put in charge of his father’s bank account. Graves was to pay his father’s bills and records show he began withdrawing funds in 2012. By the time authorities were contacted, the total had grown to $86,000 through the end of last year. He is accused of using $59,000 for his personal use.

His father told investigators he agreed to help pay his son’s bills after he lost his job but did not give him permission to take all his money.

Graves told investigators he used the money to buy drugs, mainly methamphetamine.

He has been ordered to make his first court appearance in August.
