Rochester MN (KROC AM News) - The Mayo Clinic has announced it will be investing nearly $93 million in facilities and equipment throughout the organization through next year. Mayo officials say the improvements reinforce the healthcare provider’s commitment to the Destination Medical Center initiative.

The investments that will take place in Rochester are highlighted by the construction of an additional 4 floors of shelled in space on the Mary Brigh Building East at St. Mary’s Hospital as part of an expansion project that began in 2014. Two hybrid operating rooms will also be developed at St. Mary’s Hospital and 14 operating rooms will be added to the Richard O. Jacobson Building at the Methodist Hospital campus. Mayo has also announced it will proceed with renovating 2 units on the 7th floor of the Methodist Hospital Eisenberg building.

The other investments include a new fixed wing airplane for Mayo Clinic Medical Transport, an expansion of the Mayo Clinic Health Care System hospital in Eau Claire Wisconsin, and a project to improve access to Mayo’s campus in Jacksonville, Florida.
