St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Minnesota State has announced a new program that guarantees a student’s admittance to any of the seven State Universitiesif they complete the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum and earn at least a 2.0 GPA in an Associate of Arts degree from a Minnesota State College.

Officials with the higher education system, formally known as the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System, ensures students can seamlessly and reliably transfer to a state university if they wish to earn a four-year degree.

The new program will save students money by allowing them to take advantage of the lower to wish and rates charged by the Community and Technical Colleges during the first two years of their post secondary education. Minnesota State officials say the tuition and fees at a Minnesota State college are significantly lower – between one-half and one-tenth the cost – of other higher education options within the state.

While students who complete the transfer curriculum and earn the Associate of Arts degree are guaranteed admission with full credit transfer to any of the State Universities, the program does not guarantee admittance to specific majors. Officials say the academic requirements for major degree programs at the state universities very and students considering taking advantage of the credit transfer should discuss goals with an adviser.
