MOA Expands

The groundbreaking for a large expansion project at the Mall of America will take place this morning.  The $300 million development will add a luxury hotel, underground parking spaces and a new mixed-use complex.  The project is expected to be completed by August 2015.  Opened in 1992, the mall receives over 40 million visitors annually.  The Mall of America has a gross area of 4,870,000 sq ft or 96.4 acres, enough to fit seven Yankee Stadiums inside, with 2,500,000 sq ft available as retail space.  And it's about to become bigger!
