St Paul (KROC AM News) - An area judge is planning to retire next month and Gov. Dayton is now seeking a successor.

Judge Terrence Walters is based in Wabasha County and has been on the bench since he was appointed by former Gov. Jesse Ventura in March 2003. He was re-elected to the seat in 2016 and his term expires in Jan. 2023.

Application materials must be submitted by close of business March 15. Interviews are scheduled for March 30.

Walters is a Rochester native and practiced law from 1976 - 2003. While in private practice, he also worked part-time as a public defender in Rochester and was assigned to the David Brom case in 1988.
