Thanks to a new Minnesota law you can now choose a license plate to honor Minnesota Law Enforcement in Rochester, and help families of fallen officers at the same time! I love the artwork, done by Michele Steffen, an artist in the Willmar area. The main image, the shadowy officers behind the numbers, all of it is powerful.

According to the Pioneer Press,

Michele Steffen’s delicate watercolor painting...features shadowy outlines of different law enforcement divisions, while an honor guard member walks the “thin blue line.”

I especially like the shining badges (or maybe I should say glowing), as if to say, "We're here...this will help you find us!" Or, in the case of criminals, "This'll let you know we're coming!"

The plate will cost an extra $10 (that goes to the state), an initial $25 donation to the Law Enforcement Memorial Association, then a yearly $5 charge that goes to the LEMA, which'll be used to help surviving family members of officers killed in the line of duty.
