This past year, I had the honor of being the Rochesterfest Chairperson. It was an important year for the city’s annual festival as it transitioned to its new permanent home at Soldier’s Field Park. At a press conference this morning at the Government Center, Mayor Ardell Brede announced that Bob Nowicki will be the Rochesterfest Chair for 2016.

Nowicki is a retired IBMer and former City Council member who has been on the Celebration of a City Board since 2010 and has served as the Volunteer Chair for Rochesterfest since 2008. Last year he was chair of the executive board and now will lead next summer’s celebration as the event chair.

Each year the chairperson is handed a ceremonial Rochesterfest brick and this morning it was my pleasure to hand that brick off to Bob, whose first order of duty was to come up with a theme. For next year’s theme, he chose “Rochesterfest…Fun For Everyone!” Bob explained that Rochester is an inclusive community with people of all ages and all backgrounds and that the goal is to make sure that there is something fun for everyone.

The 34th annual Rochesterfest will take place June 18-26, 2016 and the majority of events once again held at Soldier’s Field Park.
