No Way, the Best Pizza Topping is NOT Basil! What Is it? (POLL)

A survey crowned a new Best Pizza Topping King and it's a lie. A lie! Not that I don't like this topping on my pizza. It's fine for my sister's back yard and the pizza oven my bro-in-law made. But everyday? No, basil is NOT the best pizza topping.

Thrillist put together the list and the Top Pizza Toppings list seems to have been made by people that would turn up their noses at the toppings you and I have grown to love, expect, and neeeed on our pizza. And basil is the number one.

Here's how the Thrillist guy explained the choice.

"[Basil] is a simple aromatic herb that brings out the natural sweetness of the tomatoes, doesn't hog the spotlight from the dairy . . . and elevates and refreshes even frozen slices."

Uh huh.

How 'bout the rest of the top part of the list....

Fresh basil, pepperoni, prosciutto, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, banana peppers, salami, roasted bell pepper, black olives, and spinach.

Pepperoni made the list? How normal! I like artichoke hearts, but not as a "favorite". Black olives? Sure...love those. Can eat 'em by the can!
