Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester Police assisted the State Patrol in capturing a 21-year-old Rochester man following a brief chase early Wednesday.

A spokesman says a State Trooper stopped a motorist for speeding and suspicion of drunk driving near the 19th Street Interchange on Highway 52 around 2:30 a.m. While administering a field sobriety test to the 22-year-old driver, the passenger in the car climbed into the driver’s seat and sped off.

Officials say he ended up crashing the car near the 37th Street Interchange and fled on foot, but a Rochester Police K-9 officer tracked him to a nearby stand of trees and he was taken into custody. Dhaha Ahmed was booked into the Olmsted County Jail on suspicion of drunk driving and fleeing police.

The original driver of the car was also arrested for driving after revocation and a DUI charge.
