Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A public hearing is scheduled Wednesday evening concerning a major mixed-use development proposed on a site just west of St. Mary’s Hospital.

The Rochester Planning and Zoning Commission will be presented with a $100 million plan to construct a 13 story building at the corner of 2nd Street and 14th Avenue Southwest. It includes 292 apartments and 67 town homes along with 20,000 square feet of commercial space and a five level parking ramp with nearly 900 parking stalls.

The project has teamed up local developer Ed Pompeian with the Twin Cities based Alatus Corporation.

Neighborhood group have expressed concerns about the size of the parking ramp and the impact the development would have on traffic in the area, as well as the impact of tearing down a number of homes to make way for the project.

The Planning and Zoning Commission meeting scheduled to begin at 6 o’clock in the City Council chambers at the Government Center.
