Reported Muggings at Mayo Civic Center

There have been two reported muggings behind the Mayo Civic Center this week and police are trying to determine if the same criminals are involved.

The first incident was reported Monday night.  A 16 year old who was skateboarding through the pavilion area around 9:30 says he was knocked to the ground and assaulted by a group of several black males.  He told police one pointed a gun at him.  He says the men took his money and cellphone.

The other incident happened in the same area about the same time last night and also involved a group of black males.  That victim was a 20 year old man who says he was also knocked to the ground and assaulted - and also had a gun pointed at him before the men took his backpack, which contained his cellphone and some other items.  A witness called 911 and the men ran off.
