The song “Happy” from Pharrell could be Rochester’s new official theme song.  According to a new study, Rochester is the 2nd happiest city in the United States!

The study was published using data from the National Bureau for Economic Research and was co-authored by Harvard Kennedy School Professor Edward Glaeser.   It adjusted results for a variety of factors including income, demographics, employment status, housing costs and other factors to rank the nation’s cities.

 

It found the happiest cities in the USA are:

1)      Charlottesville, Virginia

2)      ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA!!

3)      Lafayette, Louisiana

4)      Naples, Florida

5)      Baton Rouge, Louisiana

On the flip side, the study also listed the most miserable cities in the country:

1)      New York City

2)      Pittsburgh

3)      Louisville

4)      Milwaukee

5)      Detroit
