Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A downtown Rochester business is receiving statewide recognition for being bicycle-friendly.

The People’s Food Co-op of Rochester has been presented with the Bicycle Friendly Business Champion award by the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota through the Minnesota Bicycling Awards program.

The business was recognized for promoting bike commuting for employees and shoppers by purchasing helmets, bike locks, pumps and bicycles for staff to use, and installing attractive bike parking and a bike fix-it station in the parking lot..

People’s Food and Co-op was previously recognized by the League of American Bicyclists as a Gold Level Bicycle Friendly Business Award winner. It is one of only five businesses in Minnesota and 120 nationwide to receive the honor.
