Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A second round of bids for planned renovation work at the historic Chateau Theater is scheduled to be reviewed by the Rochester City Council Monday evening.

Four bids were submitted.

Staff is recommending approval of a $1.1-million bid submitted by Benike Construction. Earlier bids were rejected because they were way over budget.

The renovation work will include roofing, windows and doors. The roofing work calls for the removal of the existing tiles due to various reasons. The tiles will be replaced by  “a new membrane roof to match the color of the concrete.”

Also included in the renovation project is the removal of the second floor and escalator.

The work is needed to “allow activation of the space.” DMC funds will be used to pay for the work.
