The latest jobs data from the state shows total employment in the Rochester area hit a new record high last month.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development says employment in Olmsted County rose by about 900 to 81,390 in July.

The local labor force grew to almost 84,500, which is less than a 100 below the all-time high from last August.

The unemployment rate for Olmsted County remained the lowest in the region at 3.7-percent, which was down almost a half-point from July of last year.
