The Rochester Fire Department came to the rescue of a dog Sunday afternoon.

A statement released by the fire department says firefighters responded to Quarry Hill Park just before 5PM and found the dog trapped in open water and surrounded by ice. Two of them put on cold water rescue suits before venturing out onto the ice, and with assistance from other firefighters on shore, managed safely pull Bruno out of the frigid water and return the dog to its owners.
