Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The unemployment rate for the Rochester area was steady last month.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development put the jobless rate for Olmsted County in August at three percent, matching the rate from July when the size of the local labor force and employment levels hit all-time highs. Those numbers were down slightly last month and the unemployment rate was up nearly a half-point when compared to August of last year.

Across the region, Olmsted County continued to report the lowest jobless rate. Most of the other counties also experienced steady, or nearly steady jobless rates. The highest rate was found in Winona County at 3.8-percent, which was down a tenth of a point from the previous month.
