Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The once-crowded field of Democrats running for Minnesota Governor has shrunk to just three.

Rochester State Representative Tina Liebling today became the latest candidate to suspend their campaign to succeed Governor Mark Dayton. Liebling says she has decided to drop out of the race and pursue reelection to the State House seat she has held since she was first elected in 2004.

Her departure leaves current 1st District Congressman Tim Walz, State Auditor Rebecca Otto, and State Representative Erin Murphy still on the list candidates seeking the DFL party’s endorsement to replace Dayton, who earlier announced this would be his final term in office. The number of candidates in the race has steadily dwindled since the straw poll conducted during the party’s precinct caucus showed Walz was the frontrunner.
