Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Liquor stores in Rochester may soon be permitted to remain open longer than they are under the current city ordinance.

State law allows off-sale liquor stores to be open through 10 p.m. Monday - Saturday but Rochester restricts those hours. Under the current ordinance, they must close at 8 p.m. Monday - Thursday, 9 p.m. on Friday and 10 p.m. on Saturday.

The Rochester City Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing at its Wednesday evening meeting to consider conforming the ordinance to the state law, which means stores could opt to remain open through 10 p.m. Monday - Saturday. This would also apply to local breweries.

If there is enough support, the Council could make the change in the near future.
