Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man who was arrested early Sunday had an unusual item in his possession - an apparent World War II mortar shell.

A woman called 911 to report 30-year-old Thomas McReynolds was trying to kick in her door. She also said he had a gun and hand grenade.

Officers sent to the woman’s residence located him nearby riding a bicycle and found a BB gun and the mortar in his backpack. The St. Paul bomb squad was called and took the shell for testing.

McReynolds was arrested on multiple charges.

It’s not known where the mortar shell came from.
