Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man was stabbed early Friday during a fight that broke out on Historic Third Street.

Several 911 calls were made around 1:30 a.m. about a fight involving 8-12 males near the former City Hall building.

Officers arrived to find the 23-year-old victim on the ground. He was taken to St. Mary’s ER for treatment of three stab wounds, two to his legs and one to the lower rib cage area. The injuries were described as non-life threatening.

Witnesses told officers they saw a man lunge at the victim before he fell to the ground. A state trooper found the suspect about 10 minutes later walking near the 4th Street bridge a few blocks away. He was later arrested and is expected to face a felony assault charge when he appears in court Tuesday.

The man - 29-year-old Ukash Ali Abdule - recently pleaded guilty to felony assault for his role in the mugging of a man near the Meadow Park apartment complex in January. He was released without bail while awaiting sentencing. One of the conditions of his release was to remain law abiding.
