Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man is accused of biting his young son - to show the child what it felt like.

Two felony counts of malicious punishment of a child have been filed against 22-year-old Collin Philipps.

His wife told police the incident happened August 16th. She says she heard their 16-month-old son scream and later saw apparent bite marks on his right shoulder.

During a police interview Philipps admitted biting his son. He described the boy as a “biter.” Philipps told an investigator he wanted to show the child  that “biting hurts.”

His wife also told police Philipps slapped their son so hard it left his handprint on the boy’s cheek for 15 minutes. That happened two weeks before the biting incident.

Philipps has been ordered to make his first court appearance next month.
