Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester Mayor Ardell Brede presented his annual Mayor’s Medal of Honor Awards during a luncheon on Wednesday.

The awards program, which was launched in the 1980s by former Mayor Chuck Hazama, singles out Rochester area residents and organizations for their contributions to the community. 14 individuals and organizations were honored this year.

The Mayor’s Award went to Regina Mustafa. In recent years, she has become well known as an unofficial spokesperson for Rochester’s Muslim community after founding the Community Interfaith Dialogue on Islam. She is also is the host of the Faith Talk Show and was recently appointed to the Rochester Ethical Practices Board.
