Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The man accused of fatally shooting a Rochester man last fall is now undergoing a psychological evaluation at the St. Peter State Security Hospital.

27-year-old Malcolm Woods currently faces two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the death of 38-year-old Brandon Arndt at the Bob’s Trailer Park along Marion Road Southeast. Court records indicate Woods is expected to remain at the State Security Hospital for at least four weeks for the evaluation process, which is most often used to determine if a criminal defendant is competent to face prosecution.

Woods and two of his cousins, 34-year-old Kielah Parsons and 20-year-old Damien Klindworth-Woods, are accused of plotting to murder Arndt because they mistakenly believed he had harmed their elderly grandmother. The criminal complaint alleges Woods was the person who actually shot Arndt when he answered a knock on the door to his mobile home in the early hours of September 10th.

Parsons is currently scheduled to stand trial in March, while Klindworth-Woods is scheduled to appear at an evidentiary hearing at the end of the month.
