Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man’s car was impounded early Friday as the suspected vehicle in a serious injury hit and run.

It happened around 9:30 Thursday night when a car turned in front of a motorcycle at the intersection of East Center St and Civic Center Dr, near the Mayo Civic Center. The driver of the car fled at a high rate of speed.

The driver of the motorcycle and his female passenger were taken to St. Marys with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The driver has been identified as 26-year-old Chad Grutzmacher. His passenger was 19-year-old Dasia Simmons. Both are from Rochester.

Officers located the suspected vehicle involved in the hit and run around 2:30 Friday morning in the 1300 block of 4th St NE and talked to the owner, who said he wasn’t sure how the vehicle had been damaged. He was not arrested and the investigation continues.
