Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester police are investigating a violent home invasion that happened last Friday - but was not reported by the victim.

Police say a 33-year-old man walked into the Shell convenience store by St. Francis Church around 5:30 a.m. Friday morning, covered in blood. An employee called police but the man was gone when officers arrived.

Thanks to a tip from a neighbor, police were able to locate the victim’s nearby apartment and spotted blood stains in the hallway. They eventually interviewed the victim and he said four men he described as Somalis forced their way into his residence and began assaulting him. One of them had a gun and pistol whipped the victim and fired a shot into the ceiling.

A woman and two children were there at the time but were not hurt.

At last check, the intruders were still being sought.
