Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - The rain that fell in Rochester Monday set a precipitation record.  

The National Weather Service says the total recorded at the airport was 1.15 inches.The previous record for December 14th was .57 inches set in 1975.The total from Sunday and Monday was 1.72 inches,which tied the all-time two day record for December.

So far this year, the city has received just over 34 inches of precipitation.  That’s about 1.7 inches above normal.

Most of southeast Minnesota received 1-2 inches of rain from Saturday night through Monday evening. Higher amounts were reported in Iowa and Wisconsin, which led to some flooding problems.

There is a chance of more rain tonight and tomorrow and then dry conditions are expected through Sunday.
