2017 was a rough year for some Rochester restaurants-- and another local eatery closed its doors Sunday night.

According to a post on its Facebook page, Damsy Restaurant, located along 4th Street in downtown Rochester (and literally right behind the Quick Country Worldwide Headquarters), announced it was closed for good on New Year's Eve.

The first inkling that things weren't working out for Damsy appeared on their Facebook page on Christmas Eve, when the restaurant said,

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and happy holidays! We will be open tomorrow, however, sadly we regret to inform you that our last day of business will be December 31st. We thank all of our customers and we have loved serving you!

I'm always somewhat sad when a restaurant closes its doors-- and it seems like it wasn't all that long ago that Damsy had opened. In fact, it was only in September of 2017 that the restaurant (where the China Star used to be) opened.

Of course, that bout of food poisoning we first heard about in November that seriously sickened customers certainly couldn't have helped things. (To refresh your memory, there were at least 8 confirmed cases of food poisoning that happened back in September, with 4 of the affected people requiring hospitalization. At least one lawsuit is still pending against the restaurant.)

No word on what will happen to the building.
