Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man who is suspected of firing several shots into a northwest residence that was occupied by three juveniles Tuesday night has been charged with an unrelated crime.

The gun possession charge was filed Thursday against 39 year old Joshua Cunningham and during his court appearance, bail was set at $100,000. Cunningham had a handgun in his possession when he was apprehended two hours after the shooting, a violation because he is a convicted felon.

The shooting occurred a few blocks north of Pax Christi Church. At least 15 rounds were fired at the house and a car parked in the driveway. No injuries were reported. The homeowner told police he suspected Cunningham was involved because of an earlier confrontation during which the suspect pointed a gun at him.

Police say a rifle was used in the shooting. During a search for the weapon, investigators checked a storage unit and what they found could lead to more charges against Cunningham.

A spokesman says there were signs the room was being used to manufacture synthetic marijuana. Also found in the unit were more than 30 pounds of the drug.

The investigation was still ongoing at last check.
