A Rochester State Trooper made his first court appearance Friday on the second degree manslaughter charges brought against him by the Goodhue County Grand Jury in December.

The charges against 48-year-old Scott Reps stem from a traffic crash that occurred last July 4th in Cannon Falls. The trooper was responding to reports of another traffic crash when his State Patrol cruiser collided with another car and fatally injured an elderly Cannon Falls couple.

Reps, who remains free on his own recognizance, is due back in court in April. His attorney has already said he will be filing motions requesting the charges be dismissed.
