Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A well-known Rochester woman was killed over the weekend while trimming a tree.

Police received a 911 call around 4 p.m. Saturday after 58 year old Dawn Zollman was found dead at the base of a tree she had been working on. She was pinned to the trunk of the tree by a 20 - 30 feet long branch that was 3 feet in circumference. The house where she was working is located in the 800 block of 25th St SW and Zollman had been hired to trim trees at the property.

She was the widow of Dr. Paul Zollman, a longtime veterinarian who helped develop the zoo at Olmsted County’s Oxbow Park, which carries his name. Dr. Zollman died in 2008.
