Rochesterfest Recap

Another Rochestefest is in the rear-view mirror.  For the most part the fest went off this year without a hitch. There were returning event favorites including Teen Night, Celebrity Game Night, Family Fun Night, Karaoke Night, Grand Parade, Country Night, Country Breakfast on the Farm and the Drum & Bugle Show plus many more!

This year’s Rochesterfest included a couple of new events including the Rochester Hangar Dance at the airport on June 21^st, Rochester Sports Night on Tuesday and Insane Inflatables 5K on Saturday.   I had no idea what to expect with Insane Inflatables but some 2,000 people that took part said it was fun and…well, “insane”!

For the most part the weather cooperated, however a couple of events were ‘rained-out’ including last Monday’s Possablities Ice Cream Social, the Mayor’s Cup Hot-Air Balloon Races.  The biggest event that was cancelled due to weather was Saturday night’s Street Dance.

Rochesterfest will be back next year but because of the expansion of the Mayo Civic Center, the main fest area will have to be moved to a new location.  Stay tuned.

Now on to the next big event.  I heard a rumor there might be some fireworks later this week.
