I was told this news casually as if it wasn't a big deal. A young guy that told me, and he's never worn a costume in his life, so I can forgive him for not knowing what a big deal this is.

Custom Costumes is closing! There's nothing on their website or Facebook page, so I called the store, thinking, "No way is this true." Custom Costume has been around for-ever! Seriously...everyone here at the station said, basically, "How long has it been there? I don't know...it's just always been there."

So I did some digging...looks like it opened about 30 years ago, which would be 1988 or 1999. Either way, I'm bummed they're closing, but the good news for us is they're selling everything: hats, wigs, shoes, masks, and accessories. Some stuff, the masks, for example, are 40 - 50% off.

When's the last day? An employee at the store (wishing to remain anonymous) says the target closing date is January, but if everything sells before then, they'll close earlier. If I was a small theater, a school group, or just a parent with kids that love to play dress up, I'd hightail it over there.

What about Tailor Made? According to the same employee I spoke with, only the costume store is closing. Tailor Made, the alterations and custom tailoring side of things, is not going out of business.
