Should Rochester School Buses Add This Safety Feature?

It's been a trending topic for quite some time as seemingly, more and more people are causing accidents, sometimes tragedies, when the buses' stop signs are out. It's no secret how I feel about this subject. In case you missed my last school bus article - "Why Is Stopping For a School Bus So Confusing For People?" It's very blunt, honest and real!

One Minnesota school district is trying out a new method to get people to obey those stop-signs. You know, if kids getting killed isn't enough for you... Hopefully, a ticket will be. The Bloomington Public School District just added high-definition cameras on its buses. Their goal - to catch these drivers that are breaking the law by passing stopped school buses with their stop arms and lights activated.

According to KARE 11, the cameras were added last week, and already, 20 violations have been recorded!

Those found guilty of breaking this law will have to pay a $500 fine, according to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
