The Minnesota State Patrol reports that a Chevrolet Uplander, driven by 19-year-old Dustin Brand of Rushford, was traveling east on Highway 30, east of Ridgeway Road near Rushford in the Arendahl township when the driver lost control of the vehicle on the snow-covered roadway around 5:30 p.m. The vehicle left the roadway and entered the westbound ditch, striking several large rocks and trees before coming to a rest.

Brand was transported to Winona Health with what is described as long-life threatening injuries.

This was one of the hundreds of crashes across the state of Minnesota Tuesday.  The State Patrol said over 230 crashes occurred on Tuesday night, with 28 of those resulting in an injury, only one of the injuries was considered serious. Another 113 vehicle spin-outs happened as well.

The icy conditions came as a result of freezing mist and light snow from Tuesday morning.
