Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester woman woke up Thursday morning and made some very disturbing discoveries in her home.  Police Captain John Sherwin says the 61-year-old resident of a home in the 1800 block of 26th Street Northwest was leaving for her job when she noticed signs of tampering on the door between the house and the garage.

The door was still locked, but when she went into the garage she discovered someone had left two duffel bags and had gone through her car, although nothing had been taken. Police say a latex glove was also located at the scene and the door to the garage had been pried open. It was also noted that the sensor for a motion light outside the garage had been covered, which are all clear indications someone was attempting to break into the woman’s home while she was sleeping.

Captain Sherwin says it not known what caused the person or persons to abandon their efforts and leave without the duffel bags, but the case serves as a reminder of the importance of locking all of your doors, including the one leading to the garage.
