Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The National Weather Service has canceled a flash flood watch that was issued for the Rochester area.

The latest forecasting models have shifted the areas expecting the heaviest rains from the former tropical storm that’s cruising through the nation’s midsection to the south and the rainfall totals in the Rochester area are now predicted to be in the 1 to 2 inch range by early Friday.

A flash flood watch is still in effect in Houston County, along with portions of west Wisconsin and northeastern Iowa through 4 AM Friday with forecasters predicting 2 to 3 inches of rain in those areas.

The rainy forecast prompted the Rochester Downtown Alliance to cancel today’s Thursdays on First and Third activities, and today’s appearance of the Redball Project in downtown Rochester.
