Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A man being sought by local authorities for an incident that led to a high-speed chase that began in Byron and ended in Rochester has been caught.

Officers arrested 32-year-old Jonathan Payton in Rochester on Monday night.

He was expected to be arraigned Tuesday on multiple charges, including stalking, fleeing police and reckless driving.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says Payton was able to get into the trunk of a Rochester woman’s car before she drove to Byron on Friday afternoon. The woman checked the trunk after hearing a noise and Payton jumped out and began chasing her. When a deputy arrived, Payton took off in the woman’s car and led the deputy on a high-speed chase to Rochester. The deputy broke off the pursuit in the area of West Circle Drive and 41st Street Northwest.

A spokesman says the woman and Payton had a prior relationship.
