Rabe Shots are where I call out dough-heads in the news. Hear 'em every morning around :35 after the hour. Today we have a Teacher of the Year Nominee!

It's 2015, which makes this story that sounds like it's ripped from the pages of the Salem witch trials all the more bizarre.

A left-handed 4-year-old pre-K student at Oakes Elementary in Okemah, Okla., was forced to write with his right hand because his teacher believes being left-handed is evil.

Yes, you read that right.

TYou see, Zayde, was doing some writing at home and his mother, Alisha Sands, noticed he was using his right hand. When she asked why, Zayde said his teacher said using the left is bad.

Alisha sent a note to the teacher, who sent back an unusual surprise:

It was an article calling left-handedness 'unlucky,' 'evil' and sinister.' It even says 'for example, the devil is often portrayed as left-handed.'

Alisha was blown away, saying, "It breaks my heart for him because someone actually believes that, believes my child is evil because he’s left handed, it’s crazy."

Alisha went to the school, who didn't punish the teacher at all, because they're investigating the matter. And really, does the teacher need to be punished, or just corrected and given the chance to do it right? Zayde will probably be moved to a different classroom, where, presumably, his Satanic form of writing will not be a big deal.
