The Dodge County Fair starts today and runs through the 20th. There are several events this year for those that want to trek out to Kasson. Did you know that the very first county fair in Minnesota was the Dodge County fair?  According to the Dodge County Historical Society, it was.  At that time, the fair was in Mantorville, which is, a hop, skip and a jump from Kasson, where it is now.  Gold was once thought to be present in the region too! Maybe some gold will be found?  I am sure it will be a fun bunch of  events for many!

The streets nearby will soon be lined with cars from fair-goers. Here are some of the events at the Dodge County Fair this year:

Wednesday at 7 p.m. There is a bull riding challenge with Rice Bull Company.  There is a mutton bust and calf scramble.  What is a mutton bust?  Children ride or race sheep.  It is an event held at rodeos similar to bull riding.
