There Just Aint Nuthin Like A New Pair Of Shoes!
Today was a super lucky day for me! I know it's Friday the 13th and the superstitious few would consider this an 'unlucky' day, but not I. For me, I had a fantastic day because I got not just one, but two new pairs of shoes! I just cant imagine anything better than a new pair of shoes. Shoes mean a lot to me and I'll tell you why and you will get to see my X-ray's from 2010.
For those who don't know, almost four years ago I fell down the stairs and really did a number on my ankle. The X-ray's below show the before and after photo's but I had yet another surgery after that to remove all of that hardware.
Tom Garrett is not the only Y105 peep to have a few less screws loose in himself. I had them out a few months after I had to have them put in because they were causing problems. I did get the doctors to save them for me in a nice little plastic baggie:
Oh yes there they are. I have them hanging on my wall so that every morning when I get up I will see them to start each day. It reminds me to never take a single step for granted. I really went through quite an ordeal with my ankle break, it was beyond painful, I remember when the nurses or doctors would ask me that famous question, "On a scale of 1 - 10, how would you rate your pain?" My answer back then? A 36! It hurt really bad, but I lived! It took quite some time before I was able to be pain free and part of that had to do with getting them removed because I was experiencing severe nerve pain. Whew, that is all over and I'm great now! It was hard though, not something I'd ever want to re-live.
I WILL NEVER TAKE ONE SINGLE STEP FOR GRANTED and I thank my lucky stars they were able to fix it and I am walking again pain - free. Back to these new shoes. I had the pleasure of opening up two new boxes of shoes today because I pamper my footsies now. My feet get special treatment ever since I fell. I make a point to get new shoes on a regular basis, but not just any old shoe, I have found my favorite. I used to just love to wear many different kinds of shoes. Now, I make it a point to get some really comfy good supporting shoes for sure! So I am a really happy camper today with my two new pairs, and yes I got two, the ones you see in this photo:
and another pair that is solid black for those occasions when I have to pretend to be a professional. The fancy flashy ones are really my favorite. I thought it was really funny today when I ran into an older gentleman at work. He said to me, "You are the 5th woman to say to me today that they got new shoes!" so I replied, "Really?" He went on to say, "I'm a guy, men don't care about that stuff as much, but yes, the 5th woman to tell me this TODAY too." So I looked down at his really clean and white new shoes and asked did you get new shoes too? He said, "Yeah, but its not really that big of a deal." Hmmm. Big deal to me! I love my new shoes! I just might make it a Friday the 13th tradition!
