For over 40 years the Salvation Army Sharing Tree has been a Rochester tradition at Apache Mall.  On Friday night, the tree was lit up in the JC Penney courtyard kicking off the 2014 Holiday Season.  My family and I were on hand for the event as we have been for the past dozen or so years.

The event featured the Salvation Army band playing seasonal songs while Randy Brock did a live shot and his weather on KTTC-TV.  Then it was time to flip the switch and light the tree.  Now that the Sharing Tree is officially ‘ready for business’, you can help out by making a donation.

Simply drop off any new unwrapped gift at the tree for an area child or teen in need.  Toys, games, books, clothes or gift certificates are great ideas.  You can make your donations anytime between now and Christmas.   Each year over 10,000 gifts are donated.  The donated presents will be given to families needing help this holiday season.
