Faribault, MN (KROC AM News) - No serious injuries were reported from Monday night’s multi-vehicle wreck on I-35 in the Faribault area.

The State Patrol says a car driven by a 38-year-old Iowa woman lost control and collided with another vehicle. Her car was then hit by a semi-truck and another vehicle. There was another adult female in the first car and three young children. There were two adults and three teens in the second vehicle. The State Patrol says the freeway was icy at the time of the 9 p.m. wreck.

A deer is being blamed on a fatal wreck in northwest Minnesota Monday night. It happened around 8 p.m. in Pennington County near Thief River Falls.

The State Patrol says a truck driven by 21-year-old Alexander Schmidt of Thief River Falls struck the deer and then crossed the centerline of the road, colliding head-on with an SUV. Schmidt suffered non-life threatening injuries but the SUV driver died at a nearby hospital. She has been identified as 71-year-old Sandra Swanson of Gatzke.
