Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Twin Cities attorney has been convicted of federal child pornography charges.

After hearing four days of testimony, US District Court Judge David Doty today found 49-year-old Ian Laurie guilty of five counts of distribution of child pornography. Federal prosecutors say FBI investigators were able to identify the Maple Grove man as a user of a peer to peer file sharing platform known as GigaShare involved in downloading and disseminating illegal images and videos.

A news release from the U.S. Attorney for Minnesota states the investigation was launched 3 years ago and involved pornographic works depicting the sexual abuse of children. Evidence of Laurie’s involvement in the illicit activity was obtained from computers seized at his law office in St. Louis Park and his apartment in Maple Grove.

His sentencing hearing has not been scheduled.
