Rochester, MN (KROC AM News)  - The Olmsted County Public Works Department is scheduled to start work on two major road projects Wednesday.

Concrete overlay work on County Road 25, also known as Salem Road Southwest, will require the roadway to be closed into mid-to-late September. The $3.7 million project will include paving and shoulder work from West Circle Drive to the intersection with County Road 3.

The required detour will direct traffic onto West Circle Drive, then east and west on County Road 34 before reconnecting to County Road 25 via County Road 3.

Work is also scheduled to begin on the reconstruction of the County Road 16 interchange along Highway 63 at the Rochester Airport. A new bridge will be built south of the existing overpass, which will remain open until the new bridge is ready for traffic. The nearly $7 million project also calls for the construction of new entrance and exit ramps, along with roundabout intersections on both ends of the new bridge.

Crews will be installing temporary bypasses that will allow traffic to be maintained during the project, but some delays can be expected.

The project is scheduled to be completed in August of next year.
