St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting two more children have died from flu-related complications.

The department’s weekly update on flu activity indicates there have been three pediatric flu-related deaths in Minnesota this season.

Overall flu activity remains classified as widespread this week. Although there was a modest drop in the number of flu-related hospitalizations and the number of school outbreaks was steady, the health department report shows a small increase in the number of outbreaks in nursing homes and a jump in the percentage of people seeking treatment at clinics who present with influenza symptoms. It rose from about 2.5-percent to over 3.5-percent during the past week, and of the percentage of positive results for influenza on specimens submitted for testing hit a season-high 20-percent.
