Dover, MN (KROC AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department has released more information concerning a near drowning involving a young child in Dover Wednesday.

A 911 call was made around 10 a.m. and first responders who arrived at a residence in the 400 block of Eyota Street East found the 32 year old mother of the 1 year old child performing CPR. She told them he was not breathing when he was found. The child was airlifted to St. Mary’s and at last check was listed in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation has determined the child was outside playing with his siblings for about 5 minutes  The children were called into the residence by their mother and that’s when she discovered the 1 year old was missing. A short while later, the child was found in a  round plastic tub that is about 18 inches in height and diameter and contained about 6 ½ inches of water. The tub was used by the children to rinse their feet before entering the residence.

The name of the family is being withheld for now.
